Ansonia High School is a Grade 9-12 school serving
approximately 728 students. It is located at 20 Pulaski Highway on
the Hilltop section of the city.
AHS offers a wide variety of courses,
including numerous college-credit classes, as well as extracurricular activities.
The new high school was the landmark of the
Ansonia 2001 building project, which called for the
construction of this new school as well as the renovation
and addition on to three other existing buildings.
The school features a large gym with seating for more
than 800; an auditorium with state-of-the-art sound
and seating for 440; and seven computer labs. In October 2004, AHS underwent an on-site accreditation visit
from the New England Association of Schools & Colleges.
Susan McKernan is principal,
while Robert Lisi is assistant principal.
They are joined by Joseph Dobbins, assistant principal in charge of the Alternative Education Program. They can be reached at (203) 736-5060.
Ansonia's Alternative Education Program, P.A.C.E (Positive and Creative Education) for selected students in Grades 9-12 has moved to Ansonia High School for the 2009-2010 year.
