The Charger Health Center at Ansonia High School

The Charger Health Center at Ansonia High School is a licensed, comprehensive primary health facility located at Ansonia High School.  Services are aimed at, but not limited to, students who do not have access to a family doctor, or whose families have little or no health insurance.  

The Center is operated by Griffin Hospital and offers primary medical and mental health services to Ansonia High School students.  The Charger Health Center is located within Ansonia High School in the school nurse's office.  The Center is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals who have expertise in pediatric/adolescent healthcare.  The Charger Health Staff consists of a physician assistant, a social worker, and a medical assistant.  Care is supervised by Griffin Hospital physicians, through the Griffin Faculty Practice Plan.

The Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, during the school year.

The entire student body of Ansonia High School is eligible to use the center however; parental permission is required prior to accessing services.   For Charger Health Center enrollment information, please call the Center at (203) 736-6977. No students will be denied service due to their inability to pay.  However, those students who have health insurance will have their insurance billed.  The following services are offered:

  • Routine Checkups/Physical Exams
  • Health Education
  • Immunizations
  • Referral & Follow-up for Specialty Care
  • Laboratory Testing
  • Mental Health Services
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Individual, Family, and Group Counseling
  • Medication Management
  • Treatment of Acute Injuries and Illness
  • Nutrition Counseling & Weight Management
  • Management of Chronic Illness
