Illnesses

If your child is ill, please keep them home from school. Children that have a fever over 100, diarrhea or vomiting may not return to school until they are 24 hours fever free without the use of Tylenol or Motrin and 24 hours free of diarrhea and/or vomiting. Other illnesses such as strep throat or pink eye must be confirmed and treated for at least 24 hours before the student may return to school. Please call the attendance line when your child will be absent from school.

Medications

Children that require medications in school require a signed doctor’s order each year. All medications must be brought to school by an adult. No children are allowed to transport medications between home and school.

Head Lice

Notify nurse immediately if your child has lice so siblings and classmates may be checked by the nurse. Students must be driven to school on the day they return so that they may be re-checked by the nurse. Students may NOT take the bus on their first day back.

Injuries Outside of School

If your child is injured outside of school and requires special assistance of some kind, such as crutches, splints, casts, etc., please provide a doctor’s note to the school. A doctor’s note is also required if your child cannot participate in recess or gym.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is spread from person to person through coughing and sneezing, or contact with blister fluid or feces (stool) of an infected person. You can lower your risk of being infected by:

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water
  • Disinfecting dirty surfaces and soiled items
  • Avoiding close contact such as kissing, hugging, or sharing eating utensils or cups with infected people
