Extended School Hours Program
Request for Proposals
The Ansonia Public School System has received funding for an Extended School Hours Grant through the State Department of Education. This grant provides funding for after-school and summer programs that offer academic enrichment and support activities for underachieving students. We are required to work with community agencies on our after school grant program.
Based on our needs assessment, this year’s Extended School Hours program will be focused on serving students in Grades K-3 who attend Mead School and Prendergast School. The program will operate three days per week for 8 weeks starting on Feb. 18, 2020 and concluding on April 9, 2020. The students’ program must provide the following:
- reading/literacy support, in a small group setting, for 45 minutes per program day; and
- recreational and/or other enrichment activities that are actively engaging for 60 minutes per program day
In accordance with grant requirements, we are soliciting applications from area agencies which may be interested in partnering with our school district for this year’s Extended School Hours Program. We would like to invite your agency to a MANDATORY meeting at:

Proposals for the Extended School Hours Program will be due on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 by noon.
