Ansonia School Readiness Program

School Readiness Goals

The School Readiness Grant Program provides a developmentally appropriate preschool program for children ages 3-5.

Through a program that provides open-ended materials and hands-on activities, children develop socially,

intellectually, physically and emotionally.  School Readiness adheres to the philosophy that children learn through play.

Teachers foster each child’s sense of him/herself as an individual and promote their self-esteem.

Health and nutrition activities are also an integral part of our curriculum.

School Readiness builds a foundation of knowledge for future education.

Facts About the School Readiness Program

The School Readiness and Child Day Care Program, a joint initiative of the State Departments of Education and Social Services, allocates substantial funds to urban areas to increase the number of young children who have access to high quality preschool and day care programs.

Now in its tenth year, Ansonia has been awarded $937,919 to fund 125 slots.  The Ansonia School Readiness Council, overseers of the program in our city, is pleased to announce the exciting opportunity for 3-5 year olds, living in Ansonia, to participate in a part-day/part-year or full-day/full-year quality preschool and child care program.

This program enhances readiness for Kindergarten.  Through this funding, parents and teachers are equipped with the resources, knowledge and skills that young children need to achieve success.  Fees for participating in the program are charged on a sliding fee scale based on family income and size.

Julia Day Nursery, TEAM Early Education, and Ansonia Public Schools are the three programs that invite 3 and 4 year olds to attend their School Readiness program:
